Rocky Mountain National Park Day1
日本語は英語の後にあります。
After completing Maroon Bell 4 Pass Loop, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP).
First two days in RMNP we did an overnight backpack. In RMNP, there are backcounty campground. So backpackers need to get permits at backcounty office first. Luckily we got permit to stay at Lawn Lake.
We started at Lawn Lake Trailhead. At trailhead, there were two restrooms. I thought that it might be a good idea to go to the restroom. I opened the door, then I saw super disgusting stuff. Brown everywhere including seat. I immediately turned around. There are many wilderness restroom on the way.
After I came back to the car, I saw a woman who opened the same door and turned around. I overheard she said to her friend, "I'm okay, it is disgusting."
We hiked up along the Roaring River. It was nice to see a lot of water. First it was in the forest. On the trail we saw two women (one of them gave up toilet at the trailhead). They are from Denver/Boulder, and day hiking.
Lawn Lake
Lawn Lake in the evening
After 2000 feet elevation gain, we arrived at Lawn Lake. It was very pretty. We arrived before evening time, so we were able to see the change of lake as sun was going down. This is my favorite part of backpacking. I love seeing color of lake and mountains changing by sun setting or rising. It can be experienced by staying overnight in the wilderness. How beautiful, and what priceless experiences they are.
There are two backcountry campsites along Lawn Lake. One had already tent when we arrived, although there was no person. While we were eating dinner by lake, one guy came to filter water. He is the one staying at another site. He lives in Colorado and we chatted a little. Then we went to bed.
