Rocky Mountain National Park Day2
Amazing View
日本語は英語の後にあります。
Next morning, we went hiking up more from Lawn Lake, before going back to the trailhead. First we went to the Saddle, which is 12398 feet high. Looking back, the Lawn Lake was now below (left picture). Then we kept climbing. The smoke seen over Lawn Lake is from Montana fire at that time. Smoke came that far.
The view from Saddle was amazing. I thought, "These are the Rockies." Rocky mountains are famous in Japan, so I knew about rocky mountains. They are vast as I expected, and they are magnificent. We sat on the rock and stared at this wonderful view for a while.
Injured Marmot
Then we headed to Crystal Lakes. On the way, we saw injured marmot. He had one leg with blood. Probably he had a fight with another male. He was still able to walk, but I hoped he would be okay soon. Poor marmot...
Crystal Lakes
Crystal Lakes
Going to Crystal Lakes is only a small detour about 0.5 mile. So we decided to check them out. As "lakes" indicates, thre are two lakes. As you approach, two lakes can be in your eyes (upper picture). Then over the lake, there are Fairchild Mountain and some snow. From the shape, apparently glaciers used to be there, but now only snow. The lakes are very blue and beautiful. I loved the color a lot. Lawn Lake was deeper blue and green. These crystal lakes are more pure blue. It was hard to leave here, because the view was too beautiful!
